“Has it been so long?”

Anybody know from whence that quote comes? Anybody? As she writes into the void. Well, it comes from the fabulous movie Willow, and it’s spoken by a sorceress who’s been under a spell for many years, trapped in the body of an animal, after she finally gets transformed into her own human body again, but she looks down at her wrinkled skin and her silver hair and realizes she’d been trapped for decades. The quote came to mind when I came in to check on my website and saw it had been several months since I’d last written here. Whelp, to say again the title of my last blog post, I haven’t been doing nothing! I’ve been doing the regular readings with PGE, did one with the amazing Marie Elena O’Brien’s theater company Jade Rabbit, and have gone on several auditions. I’ve also been doing lots of volunteer work, trying to fight for justice in this crazy upside country, and I’ve been teaching a lot of Music Together classes and just been generally trying to up my own self-care as our world descends into darkness…(“arise, my soul, and sing” to quote e.e. cummings, though I am sureI didn’t do his punctuation correctly.)
Recently PGE celebrated 10 years of existence and I was happy to participate in the festivities (even if I was the only one masked in the audience, le sigh. Usually there are at least one or two or three others masked. These are hard times in so many ways.). Anyhoo, I am very grateful for my PGE community.
Back to my self-care. I am currently listening to soothing medieval choral music and trying to go to bed early tonight! Goodnight, anyone reading this. I hope you are doing well & fighting for love & justice & kindness & freedom & art & trees.
